CRBT Downtown Drive-In Movie Series

Saturday, September 20- Rookie of the Year
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR- A gawky eleven year old sees his dream of playing baseball come true when he breaks his pitching arm. When it heals, he becomes an ace pitcher with an incredible fast ball. Drafted by Chicago, and befriended by a veteran pitcher, he learns about life and himself. Watch his magical pitching arm help bring a pennant to his beloved, long suffering Cubs.

Kids’ Activities: Inflatable castle bounce, obstacle course, temporary tattoos, mini CRBT baseball helmets, and more!

Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust and the Cedar Rapids Downtown District staff and volunteers will also be on-site to promote “Rebuild Downtown”, a flood recovery and renovation campaign focused on bringing businesses back to the downtown area post flood. Shirts will be available for a free will donation, with profits going to the Greater Cedar Rapids Community 2008 Flood Foundation.

The festivities will begin each date at 7:30 p.m. with games and activities for kids of all ages. Guests who wish to view the movie from their cars should enter the event site at the corner of 6th Street and 1st Avenue SE. Vehicle space will fill up fast and guests are encouraged to get there early. A seating area will also be available for people who bring their lawn chairs and blankets. Enjoy refreshments from one of the food vendors that will be on-site during the event. Admission is FREE.

Thank you for supporting the 2008 CRBT Downtown Drive-In Movie Series! Although the weather played an unfavorable factor in this year’s movie nights, we still consider this summer’s series a success. The interest surrounding the movies, as well as a crowd of over 600 at the July movie, displays this community’s commitment to the recovery of Downtown Cedar Rapids and bringing it back to life! Thank you again for your support of this event and the downtown area. Movie dates for next year to be announced in Spring 2009.
